A chess opening trainer — built so the lines you've studied actually stay in your hands when a real game gets there.
Most people don't lose opening theory because they never learned it — they lose it because they only see a given line once every few weeks in an actual game, by which point it's already half-forgotten. Reading a course once and hoping it sticks doesn't work the way flashcards for a language do, and openings deserve the same kind of deliberate repetition.
Openings Game exists to close that gap: every line in every notebook gets re-tested by actually playing it out, not just read again. You're not rereading anything — you're playing the actual moves, on a real board, against the exact positions your own repertoire reaches.
Every notebook is broken down into individual lines. The first time through a line, the coach gives you a short hint before your move and explains the idea if you miss it — once you've trained that line before, the hint is withheld and you're asked outright, with the explanation still there if you need it.
Alongside the trainer there's a Drill mode for pure recall under pressure, a Time Trial for pushing your speed, and Puzzles pulled from the exact positions your own openings reach — so calculation practice is tied to the repertoire you're actually building, not random tactics from somewhere else.
The trainer ships with a large library of openings for both colors, organized the way a real opening notebook would be — main lines, sidelines, and the traps and gambits that show up when a real opponent doesn't play the book move. You can also build and share your own notebooks, so the library keeps growing beyond what's built in.
Openings Game is free to use — no subscription, no paywalled courses. The goal is a genuinely useful tool, not a funnel.
